The Määttä family of Southern Finland bought their new home at Kuusamo Log Houses. The Kotikontu model had a suitable floor plan, but the family wanted to make some small changes as well. The plot is located by the sea, and the Kotikontu model fit the landscape well.

– We looked at houses online first, and Kotikontu had a good floor plan. We started working with that, making some small changes, says Marko Määttä.

– We especially loved the large windows and the terraces on two floors. This is a very open and bright model, Päivi Määttä continues.

Spruce or pine log?

Kuusamo Log Houses offers both spruce and pine logs. Marko says that he decided on pine after some deliberation, because pine has denser grain and a more solid feel than spruce. This choice did not affect the price at all.

The Määttä family reports being very happy with Kuusamo Log Houses. The agent was very professional and discussed the different options very clearly. All modifications were accepted with understanding.

– They were very patient and flexible. At times we wondered if they were getting tired of us, because we were continuously calling them to ask if we could do this or that change, Marko reports.

– Permit drawings had already been made when we noticed that the windows still needed changes. We wanted the large windows in the living room to come down all the way to floor level. We were very happy that the modifications were accepted even though the factory process was supposed to have already begun, says Marko.

The Määttä family took a liking to the Kotikontu model. Some changes were made to the model together with the architect and Kuusamo sales representative.

Quick erection

The Määttä family chose a log home due to its quick erection and finished inner and outer surfaces, among other things. The Määttä family also thinks that log houses feature good indoor air quality.

– When you think of logs, you might think of old-time round logs, but modern laminated logs are very stylish and streamlined. I think a log house fits in a city just fine, says Päivi.

Everything that was agreed on was delivered all the way. Päivi thinks that the erection contact obtained through the Kuusamo Log Houses sales representative was the cherry on top.

– When people ask about our supplier, I tell them that I can recommend Kuusamo Log Houses with 110 percent confidence. How is it even possible for everything to work so well? I mean seriously, the biggest stress was caused by the final decoration stage, as the actual building phase was so stress-free, Päivi concludes.

The white living room is very bright. Open all the way up, the room features tall windows and a large corner sofa.
