A log house that suits your style, stress-free

Marko and Päivi Määttä, who live in Sipoo, bought a new house from Kuusamo Log Houses. They found a suitable floor plan in the Kotikontu model, but the family wanted to make a few minor changes to it. The plot is situated by the sea, and the Kotikontu model fitted in beautifully with the landscape.

– We looked at the models online first, and the floor plan of the Kotikontu was practical. We used that as a starting point and made some minor changes, says Marko Määttä.

– We were particularly taken with the large windows and the terraces on both floors. This is a really spacious and light-filled model, continues Päivi Määttä.

Spruce or pine logs?

At Kuusamo Log Houses, you can choose between spruce and pine for the log material. Marko explains that, after some consideration, he opted for pine because it is denser and feels more solid than spruce. The choice had no bearing on the price.

The couple unanimously say they are extremely satisfied with Kuusamo Log Houses’ service. The Kuusamo Representative was professional and explained the various options very clearly. Changes to the model were accepted with understanding.

– They were very patient and flexible. At times I wondered how they managed, as we kept getting in touch to ask if this or that could be done, laughs Marko.

– We’d already done the planning drawings when we realised that changes were still needed to the windows. We wanted the living room to have large windows right down to the floor. We were really pleased that the changes were still possible even though work should have already started at the factory, Marko continues.

Quick construction

The family chose a log house partly because of the quick assembly time and the finished interior and exterior surfaces. Furthermore, they feel that the indoor air quality in the log house is excellent.

– Logs might bring to mind those old-fashioned round logs, but this kind of modern laminated log is really stylish and sleek. I think a log house suits the city really well, Päivi muses.

Everything that had been agreed upon was delivered to the very end. According to Päivi, the construction contact obtained through a Kuusamo Log Houses sales representative was the crowning glory of the whole project.

– Whenever anyone has asked me about a house supplier, I’ve said that I can recommend Kuusamo Log Houses 110 per cent. I mean, how can they work so well? Honestly, the biggest sources of stress only came during the final interior work, as the actual construction phase was so stress-free, Päivi concludes.
