Kuusamo Log Houses is a professional and reliable partner in the log home and wooden house markets. We have operated in the export markets since the very beginning of our twenty-five-year history. We offer log and cut system houses of all kinds. Our products include restaurants, hotels, detached houses, villas, cabins and sauna buildings.

We cooperate with Pölkky Oy, Northern Finland’s largest sawmill. Our turnover totals approximately 180 million euros.

Reliable and safe
We are a reliable and safe partner. Our company, which has been in business for over twenty-five years, has established its position in the log home market. Kuusamo Log Houses Oy has been granted the European Technical Approvals ETA-13/0294 and ETA-11/0207, which entitle us to use the CE marking on our products. We also have an AA credit rating.

Suitable size
We are a family business which currently employs around 40 people. Our four production lines allow us to deliver more than a thousand homes annually, so we are able to provide solutions for larger projects too. In terms of size, we are among Finland’s five largest log home suppliers. We are of a suitable size, but we are also suitably small, so we can serve each customer in an individual and flexible manner.

Northern wood
Our factory is situated in Northern Finland, near the Arctic Circle. According to forestry experts, the best raw timber in Finland suitable for construction grows in this area. Log builders appreciate northern wood. The proportion of heartwood, which is used to produce rot-proof logs, is extremely high. We produce the strong frame and roof structures and most of the wall and ceiling panels of our buildings using this same wood. Find out more about our raw material.

An environmentally friendly choice
Wood is the only construction material with a legal origin and sustainable production that can be certified. Our wood supplier, Pölkky, was the first Finnish wood-processing company to be awarded the international PEFC certificate. The certificate requires that the origin of the wood used as raw material can be verified at any time. This is an indication that Pölkky uses wood that has been produced in accordance with sustainable development requirements.

The average detached house in Finland holds approximately 30 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the air in its wooden structures – that equates to the average driving-related carbon dioxide emissions of one consumer over a period of more than 10 years. Read more about environmentally friendly and healthy housing.

A sturdy, ready-to-use structure
Log acts as a load-bearing external wall and requires no separate structures or additional insulation. Both the external and internal surfaces are ready for finishing immediately after installation – a durable and simple solution.

Energy efficiency and indoor air quality
Solid timber evens out temperature fluctuations and naturally absorbs and releases moisture. The result is healthy and pleasant indoor air, even in large buildings.

Building physics benefits
Log timber offers good fire resistance, sound insulation and thermal mass, which improve safety and comfort in large buildings.

Kuusamo Log Houses has tested non-settling logs using various methods and settled on a structure where the non-settling part of the log is distributed across two support points.

Log construction with LHX non-settling logs is simpler and also faster, as there is no need to take traditional settling materials into account or install adjustment legs for log construction.
