A different take on a pent roof

The Log Home Saapunki is the creation of Hannu Hiltula, an architect from Kuusamo. The starting point for the design and planning was the client’s wish for windows as large as possible. This wish is realised in all its beauty in the living room, where floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows bring the surrounding nature close. The aim was to be able to enjoy the view from both the sauna benches and the dining table. The pent roof, running the length of the building, rises to a height of over 6 metres.

Floor plan

The elongated Saapunki 173 is clearly divided into two parts. At one end are the living room, kitchen and bedrooms, whilst the utility and laundry areas are located at the opposite end. Large windows in the living room open out onto the surrounding landscape.
